Opinion: Liberal “Fact Checkers” Missed These Biden Errors

Karen Hardin

What did you feel as you watched the debate? Certainly, I think we can all agree it wasn’t as contentious as the first debate with the two-minute muted mic rule. Immediately following the debate, it was announced that fifty million people have already cast their vote. That’s a huge concern and why I’m not a fan of early voting. Because as the old saying goes, knowledge is power, and the amount of knowledge and breaking news we have received about the Biden family and information from this last debate is a game changer that may well have changed the minds of some early voters.

Let’s fact-check candidate Biden, using his own words:

(Note: There are hyperlinks throughout this article supporting this fact-check, often using video footage of Biden contradicting his debate statements.)

1) Biden: said he never called Trump “xenophobic” regarding the travel ban, but that it was a different context.

FALSE: President Trump was one of the first, if not the first, to place a travel ban on China which took place on January 31. Of that ban, Biden criticized him and called him xenophobic. Although Biden now claims that was in a different context, it was completely in response to the travel ban.

2) Biden: “40 nations had already moved” to restrict travel from China “before the president moved.” “We started off awfully slow.”

FALSE: On January 30, WHO declared the outbreak of COVID-19 a public health emergency of international concern. They did not recommend any travel or trade restrictions against China or other affected regions at that time. However, President Trump, in an early and bold move, instituted a travel ban on China the next day. The president was mocked for his actions by Biden and the media.

3) Biden: “I’m not banning fracking! I never said it!”

FALSE: Not only did Biden say it, so did his running mate, Kamala Harris. And they have both said it a multitude of times while out campaigning.

4) Biden: “No one lost coverage with Obamacare.”

FALSE: Right here at Intercessors for America, one of the staff members shared, “Our perfectly good plan was deemed illegal because it didn’t have maternity coverage. We were forced into the Marketplace. Further, another employee had coverage through a spouse’s job with Microsoft. Once Obamacare was passed, Microsoft dumped their ‘Cadillac’ coverage for employees and the deductibles have steadily risen since then. They now offer what is basically catastrophic coverage, which is what I have with the Marketplace. As a result, neither of our families go to the doctor.”

6) Biden: “I don’t see red states and blue states. What I see is American, United States.”

FALSE: Yet in the debate, Biden contradicted that statement when he responded during the segment regarding COVID: “Look at the states having a spike, they are the red states, the states in the Midwest, in the upper Midwest, that is where the spike is occurring significantly.” Biden’s statement was false, but immediately showed he did see states as either red or blue.

7) The moderator claimed 500 kids were separated at the border with no parents because of the Trump administration’s policies and asked the President about it. In his response, the president turned to Biden and asked him, “Who put the kids in cages, Joe?” Although the moderator, Joe Biden, and Michelle Obama have all tried to make this an issue under the Trump administration, the truth is the cages were built under the Obama administration, who began the practice of separating children from their parents.

In June 18, 2014, a photo shows two female detainees sleep in a holding cell, as the children are separated by age group and gender, at a US Customs and Border Protection center in Nogales, Arizona.

8) Biden tried to refute President Trump’s statement that “You (Biden) have done nothing other than the crime bill which put tens of thousands of Black men, mostly, in jail.”

TRUE: Criminal justice experts and critics say Biden’s work on crime legislation helped lay the groundwork for mass incarceration that has devastated America’s Black communities. In 1993, Biden boasted on the Senate floor, “The truth is every major crime bill since 1976 that’s come out of this Congress, every minor crime bill, has had the name of the Democratic Senator from the state of Delaware, Joe Biden.” Biden’s actions took place at a time when violent crime was surging in many cities. His work culminated in 1994, when as chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, he helped pass a vast catchall crime bill known as the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act. The law included strong punitive measures desired by law enforcement, created 60 new death penalty offenses, gave states incentives to build prisons, set aside money for 100,000 new police and codified a “three strikes” rule.

8) Biden: “I never received a penny from a foreign government.”

MISLEADING: While there were numerous other false-statements made during the debate, the most concerning is the this. Hunter Biden’s computer emails which now reveal that Joe Biden, referred to as “the Big Guy” in the emails, was perhaps correct that although HE had never received money directly from a foreign government, the emails reveal clearly his son did and was then required to give his dad 50% of the take.

With this breaking news, why was this not a huge component of the debate? Had the scandal been against President Trump, it most certainly would have been. As it was, the issue was barely discussed as the moderator kept interrupting the President to change the subject each time the discussion led to this issue.

If you are reading this and feel this fact-check is one-sided for President Trump, imagine how conservatives have felt watching these debates? Both had liberal, biased moderators who contended with the president as if they were tag-teaming with Biden. Admittedly, in the second debate, it was not as noticeable as the first, but even in the second debate, the moderator interrupted President Trump 24 times as he gave responses, whereas she only interrupted Biden twice.

The “fact-checks” coming from the liberal media are without question one-sided for Biden and in fact untruthful. For example, a “fact-check” from the L.A. Times addressed 40 statements from President Trump, whereas they address three from Biden. Their assessments were also not truthful. The unbalanced focus on Trump wasn’t because Biden didn’t make false statements, as proven above, it was because their point was not to “fact-check” the debate as claimed, but an attempt to discredit the president and sway an election.

The problem with this “fact-checking” is the L.A. Times and other media outlets are called “news” sources. That means they should be held to the journalistic standard in which any bias on the part of the writer cannot be seen. That is clearly not the fact as the entire article is demeaning about the president and intended to discredit his words.

So why is this article showing my support of the President?

First, it is in support of truth. And since the mainstream media is unwilling to fact-check Biden, I feel it is important that people see that he was indeed untruthful and yet allowed to get away with it.

Second, I do not claim to be a journalist with this article. This is an opinion piece. In this form of writing, the reader can see and hear my opinion. That is not what should be happening from our news media in “news” articles, but sadly, it is all that happens in the news media anymore.

Toward the end of the debate, the President turned to Biden and said, “You know, Joe, I ran because of you,” the President stated. “Because you did a poor job. If I thought you did a good job, I would have never run.”

And that is how I will conclude. With forty-seven years in government, what one thing can Biden say (truthfully) that he did to make America better?

Enough said.
