Gorge Fruit and Craft Fair at Hood River County Fairgrounds, October 20-21, 10am to 5pm, admission and parking are free.
Beautiful Fall is on its way and the popular, annual Gorge Fruit and Craft Fair returns to Hood River County Fairgrounds October 20-21. This year will feature special guest, Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA), who will be holding a medieval demonstration event in conjunction with the fair.
The SCA is a hobby organization focusing on the Middle Ages (600 AD to 1600 AD). Members conduct study of pre-17th century European history through a variety of activities, including reproducing clothing, cooking with medieval recipes, creating household items with traditional tools, archery, fencing, and the martial arts of combat in suits of armor using swords.
All weekend long, Gorge Fruit and Craft Fair will celebrate the people and wide selection of products unique to the Columbia Gorge. Visit Odell Garden Club’s annual autumn flower show and sale, which will be held in the Floral building each day. Hood River Art Club will exhibit their large gallery-style show and sale. Enjoy local gourmet food products, fresh Hood River County fruit, flowers, baked goods, wines, jewelry, arts and crafts, custom furniture, and more. All items are grown, made, or crafted in the four counties in Oregon and Washington that make up the central Columbia River Gorge.
This family-friendly event hosts plenty of other fun activities you won’t want to miss. Special Olympics will be holding their annual fundraiser; and FFA club members will be serving delicious BBQ, outside. In addition, the fair kitchen will be serving food favorites. Head on down to the fairgrounds arena, and check out the popular Ranch Sorting competition, a timed event where two riders work together to herd designated cattle into the pen (clinic begins at 9am, competition is at 1pm).
