Plans are underway for Happy Valley’s 14th annual National Night Out celebration. On Tuesday, Aug. 2, Happy Valley Park will serve as the backdrop for an event that serves to build relationships between City of Happy Valley residents as it promotes police and community specific partnerships. Made possible by Happy Valley Parks and Recreation and sponsored by Emmert International, this City-specific event features Happy Valley Police, Clackamas County Sheriff deputies, and firefighters from Clackamas Fire District #1. Happy Valley residents are encouraged to check out emergency vehicles and rigs, test out the sirens, and ask lots of questions! Happy Valley City Councilors, City staff and members of the Happy Valley Traffic and Public Safety Committee will also be available to meet and engage with.

National Night Out is a great opportunity for residents and deputies to meet.

The event will offer an evening of summer fun that includes food, educational and interactive safety booths geared toward City of Happy Valley residents, and live musical entertainment. Attendees will enjoy popular cover band, Hit Machine, as the Happy Valley community comes together to pay tribute to their local safety heroes.

Getting to know neighbors is one of the best ways to fight crime. A neighborhood that is connected is more likely to recognize suspicious activity and look out for one another. Residents are more apt to notice when something is amiss and because relationships are strong, are much more likely to speak up about a concern because communicating with neighbors is already a familiar process. Happy Valley’s National Night Out event reinforces this notion and serves as catalyst for encouraging its local neighbors to get acquainted. Through this annual event, neighbors and safety representatives have an opportunity to share contact information, problem solve challenges, and get to know one another better.

Food and beverage, including wine and beer, can be purchased at the event, with 10% of food and beverage purchases to be donated to the Clackamas Emergency Services Foundation.
