Michael Champagne Found Guilty In Sex-Abuse Case, Sentenced To 50 Years

On Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2020, a Clackamas County Jury found 64-year old Michael Wayne Champagne guilty of one count of Rape in the First Degree, three counts of Sexual Abuse in the First Degree, two counts of Sodomy in the First Degree, and one count of Unlawful Sexual Penetration in the First Degree.

The investigation into this matter by the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office began in June 2019. The victims in this case were two 9-year-old girls.

Today (Monday, Nov. 16), Mr. Champagne was sentenced to a total of 50 years in prison.

Mr. Champagne has a lengthy criminal history. He was already a registered sex offender as a result of pleading guilty in 2008 to two counts of Attempted Sexual Abuse in the First Degree. The Salem, Oregon-area victim in that case was also 9 years old at the time. Champagne served just over a year in prison in that matter.
