On January 11, 2021 Commissioner Shull issued a statement to his Colleagues and county staff apologizing his for social media posts made prior to being elected to public office. The same day at 6:32 pm Commissioner Fischer sent an email on her county issued email, to her private professional political strategists requesting advise on how to answer Mr. Shull’s apology. A few suggestions she had “ I had no indication of your racist bigotry …, I am literally in shock.” One minute later at 6:33 pm Commissioner resent the email with the warning “ So sorry, please don’t respond to this email for the official county email.” She used her Iphone.
On January 12, the next day at 10:49 am Commissioner Fischer, although still in shock, responded to Commissioner Shull’s statements. With a scolding tone it starts: “I don’t know how you will weather the storm. People are calling for you to resign and I don’t expect that the pressure will ease up any time soon.” Further lecturing includes “ Personally, I was shocked at the Facebook posts.” and “” the depth of ignorance and hatred revealed in those public comments cannot simply be erased with one hastily drafted apology.” Needless to say no apology was bestowed by her.
Three days later the Commission unanimously censored Commissioner Shull and demanded his resignation. Taxpayer paid County Department heads demanded his resignation. On January 15th the public employees union sent a letter demanding Commissioner Shull’s resignation.
On Feb 2, two weeks later a whopping $10,000 was given to Commissioner Fischer by the same public employee union. And Commissioner Fischer has paid her private political strategy advisors $5000 so far this year.
Is this a planned, coordinated and well funded gas-lighting effort by Commissioner Fischer, and any number of taxpayer paid public employees to overturn an elected official because they don’t like his politics? Communication Commissioner Fischer on her Iphone, coordinating strategy with a campaign advisory company concerning Commissioner Shull, need to be public before the filing and gathering of signatures for a recall against Commissioner Shull.
Commissioner Fischer you ended your email of January 12 with quote “ keeping dialogue open and honest is the first step in moving forward.”. How about you coming clean? Perhaps then we will start to understand how, why this onslaught to unseat Mr. Shull really began.
This testimony was given at the Board of Clackamas County Commissioners on April 22, 2021.
