Q & A Candidate Forum Featuring: Candidate Steve Frost, Clackamas County Commissioner Position 2

1. In a few sentences, state what position you are running for and why you believe you are the best candidate to win this election?

I’m running for Clackamas County Commissioner Position 2. I was raised in this county and have spent about 45 years living here. As a multiple small business owner, I have a very unique skill set that allows me to find simple solutions to very complex problems. I bring a new energy to the job that is severely lacking on the commission at this time.

2. What are the three most critical issues you plan to tackle once elected?

(A) Security for all the people of Clackamas County…we must feel safe to thrive.
(B) Student performance. Our school scores are near the bottom of the list nationally. We must improve these for our children to succeed in the future.
(C) Improved County economics. A strong economy is vital to the future of our county. High paying jobs and benefits expedite the needed changes to the county and will keep the people of Clackamas County home.

3. When faced with difficult and complex issues in drafting public policy, what main factors will you consider when making decisions for the community at large?

What is best for the overall population. What will it cost the people and who will pay for it? Too often costs are not fairly borne by the people who will benefit the most.

4. Do you believe voter fraud exists in the State of Oregon? If so, would you advocate for a state forensic audit in elections where questions about election integrity may exist?

Yes, I believe it has occurred at some level. I would welcome an audit. The State doesn’t seem to mind doing audits on small businesses to see if we are cheating. What’s good for the goose must be good for the gander. I support ending mail-in ballots. That system is ripe for abuse.

5. Please state your position regarding the issue of Right to Life and abortion.

5. This is difficult. I would never dare to tell any person what they can do with their own body. Circumstances often require you to look at this issue through many viewpoints. While I disagree with using abortion as a form of birth control, it may be required in a life-saving situation. There is no “one” answer to this.
