Q & A Candidate Forum Featuring: Candidate Dana Hindman-Allen, Clackamas County Commission, Position 5

Dana Hindman-Allen, Candidate for Clackamas County Commission, Position 5

1. In a few sentences, state what position you are running for and why you believe you are the best candidate to win this election?

1. I am running for Clackamas County Commissioner position number 5. I believe that I am uniquely positioned to be highly effective as commissioner due to my current profession as a realtor and my past service in several other relevant professions which will aid me in performing the role with more depth than most candidates. Also, my formal education has prepared me for a community endeavor such as this. My Bachelor’s degree is in Human Development which gives me an advantage when dealing with our ongoing problematic homeless situation. We also happen to be in a housing dilemma which is my career specialty. Also, my extensive background working in education will serve the people of Clackamas County well when providing outreach, engagement and services in all County Departments. We need leaders that treat constituents as clients, always putting them front and center.

2. What are the three most critical issues you plan to tackle once elected?

(A) Create a form for constituents at each open board meeting where the public can list the top three concerns at each meeting for improving the County. (B) Address rising homelessness in the County and start putting protocols into place. (C) Review and refine budgets to stop wasteful spending and prioritize public safety.

3. When faced with difficult and complex issues in drafting public policy, what main factors will you consider when making decisions for the community at large?

A policy and an ordinance require different thinking. When it comes to policies, I will measure them by three primary criteria. Are the policies balanced, beneficial to the overall community, and have policy proposals received adequate public input reflecting the overall will of the people.

4. Do you believe voter fraud exists in the State of Oregon? If so, would you advocate for a state forensic audit in elections where questions about election integrity may exist?

Mail in Ballots, motor voter registration and ballot harvesting by nature can create a climate where fraud can exist. I believe showing ID and going to the polls would help eliminate concerns. I would also encourage a forensic audit that includes cleaning up the voter rolls to return confidence to the people that their elections are secure.

5. Please state your position regarding the issue of Right to Life and abortion.

I personally do not believe in abortion, and I would always advocate for women experiencing the joy of parenthood over creating a lifelong emotional scar.

6. Fun facts and Trivia: What is your favorite meal, vacation spot and favorite all time movie?

My favorite meal is fish tacos and a kale berry smoothie, Rome and The Wizard of Oz!

7. Bonus question: do you have a motivational quote you would like to share?

“Be bold and mighty forces will come to your aid.” Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
