Rags To Riches

Vamsi and his wife Monica on their wedding day

Meet Vamsi, one of the first children to be taken in at Apple of His Eye Children’s
Home in Southern India. He came from a family affected by leprosy. In India, being associated with leprosy is a death sentence. Other Indians consider anyone linked to leprosy cursed and want nothing to do with that person or family so from a young age Vamsi was ostracized and had no hope for a future.

That was before he was taken in by Pastor Israel and Tabitha. Once this Pastor and his wife heard about Vamsi and his plight they rescued him giving him a new hope for a promising future.

Vamsi began to thrive physically and spiritually at his new home.

Vamsi and AHEC Board Member Marlon Furtado. Karen and Marlon Furtado have been supporters of Vamsi since he was young

He was shown God’s love and treated as a worthy image bearer.

Eventually Vamsi was able to study Business in college.

Now he has a good paying job in management with an airline company in Southern India. On one of our recent mission trips to India Vamsi surprised us by waiting outside the airplane dressed in his airline uniform.

He recently fell in love and married a nurse who also is employed.

Both Vamsi and Monica have a heart to give back and regularly volunteer at our AHEC orphanage.

Thanks to the many who give to this local charity, Apple of His Eye (AHEC), Vamsi and others like him are taken in and cared for.

“For He delivers the needy when he calls, the poor and him who has no helper.”
