Opinion: Why another politician is exactly what we CANNOT afford right now!

Breeauna Sagdal, Candidate Clackamas County Commission

Actions speak louder than words! Quick talking, political promises have gotten us nowhere, as evidenced by the voter pamphlet statements of 2004, by some of those who are currently on our county commission. The issues they promised to solve are just as urgent and relevant today as they were 16 years ago!

We finally have a candidate whose proven track record speaks to private sector ingenuity, with the humility to work across party lines, and without compromising on the issues or the message.

Breeauna Sagdal has been fighting for families both Nationwide and here in Oregon. Accountability, transparency, and reform are her expensive hobbies, but the benefits of her hard work are priceless and immeasurable. In the legislature Sagdal has helped push for DHS reform and justice for Oregon families. She has also pushed back on tyrannical gun bills, forced medical procedures, cap and trade, the CAT tax, and has been a front-line activist supporting our senators in three walkouts, as well as both recalls of Governor Kate Brown. Sagdal is a lead policy analyst, sounding the alarm and calling the grassroots to action through the Oregon Citizens Lobby.

At the county level- Sagdal filed a Second Amendment sanctuary ordinance with Kevin Starrett from Oregon Firearms Federation, has called on the current commissioners to oppose cap and trade, and has supported the efforts of House Minority Leader Christine Drazan and Rep Rachel Prusak (which would reallocate funding to the I-205 bridge project to mitigate the need for tolling on roads we’ve already paid for).

Sagdal doesn’t make false promises about what she will do once in office. She’s already doing it! Sagdal has shown incredible leadership and problem-solving abilities, working across party lines to end gridlock and deliver solutions to Oregonians. Many politicians promise to cut taxes when in office, but have no clear vision on how to make it happen. Sagdal has a simple 3 step plan to ensure tax cuts without losing vital services to our most vulnerable, our veterans, our homeless, and our youth. Sagdal studied Medicine at Portland State University, and has an innate understanding of the current opioid crisis, and the acumen to see our County through the Covid-19 pandemic without further loss of our rights and freedoms.

Sagdal is supported by people of all walks of life, and across party lines. She is a multifaceted candidate with a broad wealth of knowledge of the pressing issues affecting Clackamas County, and has been hard at work creating pro-active solutions. Our world has entered into unprecedented times and we need leaders with fresh ideas, creative solutions, and the grit to see it through. We need leaders who will research and be open minded, while still listening to the people of our County. It’s time for a real person, who doesn’t live in a bubble unaffected by the policy they create. It’s time for a candidate who will help fast track getting businesses’ doors open, and people back to work. It’s time for action and not 16 more years of failed promises!

It’s time for new leadership, it’s time to #VoteSagdal!
